Paris-Berlin

Hi there, I've just discovered this site and it looks like it's full of useful information. Myself and my fiancee are looking to travel from Paris to Berlin on a Thursday night towards the end of September. I've got the price down to £88 between the two of us on the RailEurope site in a six berth couchette. I just wondered if a) anybody knows whether the six berth couchettes are single sex. We obviously want to be in the came cabin! b) whether there are any better prices around, whether I should check any other websites. Many thanks!

6-bunk and 4-bunk couchettes are mixed gender. All couchettes are the same size. The only difference is in how many bunks are pulled down. It's well worth paying a little more to get more room for both people and luggage. If you book today on the German Rail site, you can get a Europa-Spezial Frankreich discount fare as low as €59/person in a 6-bunk couchette or €69/person in a 4-bunk couchette. There is an allotted number of discount fare tickets at each price level. If the cheapest ones are gone for your travel date, you may have to pay a little more. The Normalpreis (standard fare) is €213.40/person.

Thanks for the help. When I try to book on the Rail Europe site, it shows the £44 tickets (per person), but when I get through to the payment page, it says that the price has gone up to £159 for two tickets... On the bahn.de site, the cheapest I can find is 198 euros for two in a 6 person couchette. We are travelling on 26th September...
