Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about the Basilica of St. Denis, where all of the French Monarchs are buried, including Louis XVI and Marie Antionette? Is is close to paris, is it connected by the metro???

Hi Josh,
... we suggest you copy the above link with your mouse, paste it into your Internet search box and then touch ENTER on your computer's keyboard...voila >>> paging down, there is information on the Metro (St.Denis) line to get you there... bon voyage! P
It is connected by the metro. I believe it is one of the last stops. I really liked it and reccomend it to anyone. I liked it because of all of the burials. It made it unique to other churches.
It's in the northern Paris suburb of Saint Denis....about a 10 minute trip on RER Line D out of Gare du Nord station...then the tram to the basilica. Or you can ride Metro 13 right to the basilica stop....one before the end of the line. It's in Zone 3.
You will love this gothic church. There are somewhere around 43 kings, 32 queens and 10 great servants of the kingdom of France repose in the basilica. Great history. The sculptures are some of my favorite here in Paris. I recommend this highly ! Oh and yes - Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI are buried there.
Basilique of Saint-Denis
1, rue de la Légion d’Honneur
93200 Saint-Denis

Metro: line 13, Basilique de Saint-Denis (recommanded)
RER: line D and
Tramway: line T1
One note about a prior posting - When traveling by Metro this is zone 2 (all metro are zone 2 travel even if it is a zone 3 by RER)- by Tramway and RER it is zone 3. Meaning Metro is cheapest means of travel.
It takes about 20 minutes by metro if you are in the Center of Paris.
Note with Line 13 - that this train splits heading north - be sure to board the train heading to Saint Denis.
The Basilica is open at 10h until 18h in the summer. Admission I believe is 6.50 euros.
Finally, Saint Denis is an area with a greater mixture of diversity than central Paris. Be aware that this has less "tourism" and be street smart.
