Hello Everyone We are planning our first trip to Europe with my wife, we are arriving late December flying into Paris, 12 days later we are flying back to the US from Barcelona. We are planning to stop over in Lourdes, France to see the Virgin's grotto, does anyone have suggestions as to how many days we should spend in Paris/Barcelona, travel time Paris - Lourdes and Lourdes-Barcelona and what is the recommended train pass to buy? any advise would be greatly appreciated
If you are not planning on other train trips while in France, I would suggest that you really don't need a pass for two train trips. You can go online at www.tgv-europe.com within 90 days of your travel and you can get some nice fares. Just select Great Britain as your ticket selection country. Don't worry. You'll be able to print out your tickets at home. Paris to Lourdes will take you 6hrs. Usually, you can get a 40% discount on the 69Euro fare if you book early. Lourdes to Barcelona Sants will take you about 8hrs. You will change trains 2-3 times depending on the run.
Thanks Larry, do you know of anything worth while between Paris-Lourdes to spend a night?
