Paris Apartments

Hi,
I need to find a good apartment source to book a 1 weeks stay in Paris. I have seen Paris Attitude, Paris Stay, VRBO etc. I prefer a site that does not charge an agent fee and also no crazy deposits. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Try Vacation in Paris. Don't think you'll find anything without a deposit though.

Ryan, I have used VRBO for several trips and have always been pleased. When I used them for Paris, I ended up using a company on there called Parisperfect. We had a nice view of the Eiffel tower and were within a block of it. Good luck.

Ryan, I've also used Vacation in Paris. I liked the fact that I had the key before I arrived in Paris. They are a pleasure to deal with.

Ryan, each apt rental will have different deposit arrangements. We usuallly use VRBO, but in Paris we found our $90/nite one bedroom apt, at the top of the 15th, using Homelidays.com. Our payment was thru VISA, including a deposit.

Ryan, We are renting this apartment for a month, based on good reviews on the slowtrav website. We are dealing directly with the owners who list through vrbo. No agent fee. A small nonrefundable deposit. Swift responses to my emails. Seem like nice people.

Ryan, I booked a week in a Paris apt. through airbnb.com. There are lot of different types of places and price ranges. I didn't have to pay a deposit or a cleaning fee, but the website does charge a small fee. I haven't gone on the trip yet, so I can't say how it will all work out... but I'm hoping for the best!

I've used Homelidays several times. What I like about them is that you can read reviews. I only look at apartments that have a lot of reviews and especially recent reviews. Because few Americans use this service most of the reviews are in Italian, French, or Spanish. I use Google translate to translate the reviews. You end up communicating with the apartment owners which also requires Google Translate. There are lots of photos of each apartment and a list of amenities. There's also a calendar of availability. We did have to send deposits through a bank draft which was a little bit of a hassle..but all worked out. We rented three apartments in Italy several years ago and all went well. We just used them again for an upcoming trip to France. I don't know if you will find a place that doesn't want a hefty deposit. Just make sure you read reviews. Again...the key is the reviews. If they've got at least several recent reviews you will know it's not a scam and you will also get a sense of the pros and cons. This is a very european operation but has a completely English website. Here's a link to current Paris apartments. It's a long link so I hope it works. Good luck! http://www.homelidays.co.uk/EN-Holidays-Rental/110_Search/SearchList.asp?MODEAFFICHAGE=NONE&NATURECACHEE=MER%2c+MONTAGNE%2c+CAMPAGNE%2c+LAC%2c+VILLE&NBPERSONNES=&PART=&NBCHAMBRES=&NBPIECES=&ADR_PAYS=FR&noregion=Not+available&ADR_LOCALISATION=FR+ILEDEFRANCE+75-PARIS&IDX_LOCALISATION=53&DESTINATION=&TYPE=APPAR&TYPE=STUDIO&TYPE=CONDOS&PRIX_MIN=&PRIX_MAX=&Devise=EURO&Duree=001_NUIT&JOURDEBUT=&MOISANNEEDEBUT=&JOURFIN=&MOISANNEEFIN=&equipement_exterieurs=&equipement_exterieurs=&Activite_Principale_Rech=&Activite_PrincipaleDist=&Activite_Alentours=&Activite_Alentours=&PK=

I just reserved an apartment in the Marais last week. I used AhParis. ahparis.com, which I found on this forum. I had to pay a 10% reservation fee which I find very acceptable. Good luck!

Ryan, VRBO (vacation rentals by owners) has worked for me. They do not charge a fee. They serve as a clearing house for individual owners. VRBO has a very wide selection of Paris apartments.
