Paris apartments

Would you all be good enough to share which company you rented from and your experience?

We are looking for an apartment for 4 people, and I'm coming up with lots of companies claiming to have apartments, but I am not sure who to trust!

Nothing luxurious wanted, but definitely away from a noisy or red light district.

We have rented twice with very good luck from www.phileas-fogg.com, Philippe Benoist, a warm, friendly English-speaking Frenchman. He has several apartments, in a lovely residential neighborhood, in the 14th arr. We deal directly with him- we leave tomorrow for Spain and Paris, renting a one bedroom for 585 Euros, one week. Will comment when we get back!!

we are renting as well from vacationinparis.com. Although our trip isn't til next month, I have been extremely pleased with the company. You can pay via paypal, they are based in the US, and you get the key to the apt. before you leave! We just received our pre departure info, and it is very detailed, and included phone numbers for 2 people in paris in case there are problems. I would definately recommend the company.

Another excellent company is parisbestlodge. We rented a studio in the Marais (near the City Hall or "Hotel de Ville"), only 4 blks from Notre Dame. They have many apartments in wide variety of locations.

We are renting two apartments in May and I researched MANY companies/apartments. We're also renting one from Vacation in Paris and the other through VRBO (this one is a more variable experience as you are dealing with the owner, their contracts, their wishes on form of payment, but our experience has been good).

We rented from vacationinparis last year and are renting from Iloveparisapartments.com this year. We have also rented from VRBO.com. VRBO and vacationinparis probably have the most user-friendly sites with the largest selection. It's easy to specify which arrondisement you are interested in & what size apt.

Hi Eli,

I just came back 2 days ago from a glorious week in Paris, despite catching a cold and rainy weather! We rented from Vacation Rental By Owner (VRBO.com). We rented apartment #50177 in Paris. It was a block from the Jules Joffrin Metro station from where we could access any location in Paris! The apartment was in the Montmartre district close to Sacre Cour. We paid 550 eu for the week and gave an $800 deposit which was returned in full. Fresh produce, cafes and bakeries were closeby. The apartment was very quiet. It had floor to ceiling windows facing the street but they were thermal paned and cut much of the noise. Also, there were big metal exterior shutters that when closed really blocked the sunlight for those who might want to sleep in. There was only music noise from a neighboring apartment on Friday night but it didn't go too late. VRBO.com was excellent and it was fun to explore their site. Have a great trip!

We've had good luck with homelidays.com. You communicate directly with the owners, and the site encourages past guests to post comments, so you get idea if the details posted are accurate. And Betsy, you'll have a great time at Philippe's apartment...you'll feel like a true Parisienne in the 14th. Don't forget to check out the Rue Grenelle market, under the elevated Metro line on Wednesdays and Sundays.

We also have rented through www.vacationinparis.com
Apartment ID# 123. If still available the apartment sleeps up to 4 adults and is near the Luxembourg Gardens. It was a little pricey - but we loved being able to fend for ourselves - actually felt like Parisiennes. The rental agency is based in the U.S. and we found them to be very helpful.Fran and Colin
