Paris Apartment Rental Scams / Suggestions

We are travelign to Paris for the first time. We are looking to rent an apartment but are worried about scams. Have looked through vrbo, home away and most rentals lead you to same outside rental agancies. Alone I can handle a hickup but I am traveling with my family. Any suggestions. Thank you

Alexis - I've had good experience with Vacation in Paris as have others here. The company is US based and easy to deal with and very responsive.

Another recommendation for Vacation In Paris. A reliable company, good customer service. You pay by credit card, so you do not have to wire money into a stranger's bank account. They have many apartments all over Paris. You do not need to worry about scams if you rent from them. (Most VRBO rentals are fine too but it is sometimes hard to weed out the bad ones.)

Alexis - I have also rented from Vacation in Paris and couldn't have been more pleased. We have stayed in ID22 & ID56. They are a US based company and in most instances you have the apartment key before you depart for Paris. Check out their web site www.vacationinparis.com. If you have any questions give them a call.

We've rented through Lodgis in Paris for the last ten years and have never had a problem when renting through them.

How big an apartment do you need? I can personally recommend a one bedroom apartment that sleeps 3-4. I found it on vrbo and was very happy with it. I am renting another apartment in October that sleeps 5. I learned about it from Randy in Minneapolis who posts on this board. Both apartments are in the Latin Quarter. If you would like more information you can PM me. I have noticed that some people who list with vrbo and homeaway also list with some other sites. Likely this is to get maximum exposure. When I rented the first apartment I mentioned through vrbo I paid less than what they wanted on other sites that are managed by other companies.

Try airbnb.com they have tons of apartments. I just booked one last week! The website is rated well and the one I chose (for 5 people) had reviews and a VERY friendly owner that was prompt with email. Good luck!

We've used iloveparisapartments.com and also vacationinparis.com and were pleased with both of them.
