Looking for 3-4 week rental in late fall. Marais District or Latin Quarter prefered, but open. Wish list: close to metro or walking distance to sites, wifi access, quiet bedroom,(no studios or loft bedrooms) home feel, nice neighborhood, moderate price, helpful owner. Asking a lot! Need your help! Please give web sites or contacts, your comments. Thanks.

Hi Connie - How exciting to spend that much time in Paris. I have a great place to tell you about that I think meets your criteria and more. We rented a one bedroom in the Latin Quarter over New Years. It was just what I envisioned a Parisian apartment to be. The apartment has wifi, a laptop, washer and dryer, is on a small quiet street with metro stations on either end and walking distance to the river, etc. Also a view of Notre Dame (in winter anyway, not sure if you can see it if the trees have leaves). We loved it! I found it on VRBO - listing #5967. The owner lives in the U.S. and I paid her in dollars. She had someone meet us there to walk us through everything. It is a secure building and we felt very safe there. If you have any other questions you can PM me. The owner's phone number is listed on the VRBO website if you want to contact her directly. Two numbers are listed. I called the 415 area code number. If you call her, tell her I sent you!

Edit - I forgot to mention free long distance.

Hey Connie,
check out www.vacationinparis.com. They have some nice apartments, good locations, decent prices and often will include free long distance/wifi and all include a free bottle of wine (who can argue with that?). I've read a lot of good things about this company and will be using one of their paris apartments next week so we'll see how it goes. They are supposed to ship you the key ahead of time to eliminate hassles but unfortunately previous guests held on to their keys too long and I didn't get mine in time so I need to meet the landlord/owner at the apartment but he seems very nice and was willing to wait there until I make it in from my train.

There was also another place I looked into with a lot of options in the marais area (one apartment called the "Esmerelda" really looked pretty) but I can't remember the name at the moment. I think it was something like Isabelle Apartments Paris???

Good luck :-)

ETA: I forgot to mention vacations in paris is an American company and so their prices are in US $.

I used http://www.paris-interiors.com/ and stayed 1/2 block from Notre Dame. We were close to the Metro as well as the RER, and near the St. Michel station.

We rented a 1 bedroom and for 8 days I believe it broke down to 111 euros a night. The place had a full kitchen, washer, bathroom, tv, and iternet.

The person Thierry answered my questions within 24-48 hours and I was very pleased.

The apartment also had a telephone for local calls only.

In May I stayed at a great apartment, located in the Marais, that I rented from Vacation in Paris. If you go to their web site and look at apartment ID # 118 you can get the details on the apartment.

We found a great apartment (though small) in a fabulous location on Ile St. Louis through VRBO (Vacation Rental by Owner.)

We were really happy with our apartment from vacationinparis.com. As an earlier poster said, the company is based in the US, so all transactions are in English and in dollars. Lots of pictures on their website, and our apartment was just as pictured. They have a large selection of apartments, too.

We just returned from a week in Paris, staying in an apartment in Montemartre which we rented through VRBO.com. We really enjoyed ourselves and found that staying in an apartment not only saved us some money but was also more comfortable than a hotel; plus, it seemed like a more 'authentic' experience because we were in and out of the local shops.

I have a blog at www.maggiesmagicpantry.blogspot.com with 5 posts about Paris, you're welcome to look at it (they are right after the one about D-Day).

I'd be happy to answer any questions if I can help. Best wishes, Maggie

We just returned after 5 days in Paris, and a couple of weeks in France. We found our apt on Homelidays.com. just So. of the Eiffel tower.

When we rent apts in the EU we either use Homelidays.com, or VRBO.com.
