Paris and Provence Restaurant Recs

In Paris, we highly recommend (as does RS) Bouillon Racine, 3, rue Racine, tel: 01 44 32 15 60, www.bouillonracine.com. The art deco dining rooms were lovely and the food tremendous.

In Fontvielle (near Avignon/Arles area), a local florist suggested we try Restaurant La Cuisine Au Planet, 144, Grand rue. It was lovely. We were the only couple there the entire time - mostly b/c it was a Tues. night (my birthday) and off season. Tel/Fax: 04 90 54 63 07.

In St. Remy, I recommend Auberge de la Reine Jeanne, 12 blvd. Mirabeau, tel: 04 90 92 15 33, email: [email protected].

In Vaison La Romaine (in Provence), had a wonderful lunch at Cafe de Thym. Wonderful salad with grilled shrimp, figs, bananas, grapes, and muscles, and affordable!

Also recommend a winery in Sablet (Provence/Cote du Rhone region) called Domaine des Garances, where Bernadette greeted us with 5 tastings from roses to heartier Cotes du Rhone wines. Lovely woman and we bought wine from her!

I have three very favorite restaurants in Provence:

Les Abeilles in Sablet is wonderful. Le Mesclun in Segurat was one of our favorite lunches EVER. Domaine de Cabasses (on the road between Sablet and Seguret) is always our last day meal--we have never been disappointed there.

Bon appetit!

Good ideas. In Roaix (near Vaison), I recommend the one-star Michelin starred Le Grand Pre. The setting is stunning as is the menu. Diane Victoria

In Paris, we highly recommend, "Le Casimir" and "Chez Michel" wonderful 3 course menus under 30 euros. Don't be put off by the slightly rustic neighborhood. These two restaurants, next door to each, other are real Paris gems. Bon appetit, Diane

If your "Casimir" is the one I'm thinking of, it has the advantage of being in walking distance of Gare du Nord so you can have lunch before the Eurostar.
