My husband and I will be in Paris and Nice 3 days each in September. We have been to Paris once before, but not Nice. Can someone recommend a place to stay in both places? We don't need anything fancy; clean; good area, etc. We are also interested in going to Normandy for a day-any suggestions on tours? Thanks!
Hi Cindy,
I can recommend a good hotel in Paris - it's reasonable and in a terrific area, the Marais. It's in Rick's book: The Hotel Sevigne on rue Malher. While a tad small, the rooms are clean, with new bathrooms, and many have balconies. It's right around the corner from Place St. Catherine with a great little bistro, Le Marche. While it's on a quiet street, it's around the corner form the rue St. Antoine and about a block to the St. Paul metro.
Can't help you with Nice. I'm hoping to go there myself in late summer. Good luck!
We were in Nice last year and a great hotel and one recommended by Rick was the Hotel Mecure across the street from the Mediterranean. Very reasonable 115 euros. The old city is just around the block and great restaurants as well. Excellent meal at the Safari. Bus station easy walk to catch buses to Monaco. and Ville Franche. Highly recommend. Did not have breakfast there but would seek out local bistro's in the old area for croissants and latte's.
Awesome! Thanks so much. I have purchased Rick's Paris and French Riviera books so will look these up. I feel we need to get some reservations soon, so this helps alot. If there are any "sight" ideas, I will certainly take those too or any suggestions on day trips from Nice.
Thanks again.
