Paris and Berner Oberland

I am just starting to plan a 2 1/2 week trip, starting in Paris and then heading to the Berner Oberland, and then possible flying out of Milan. My husband and I have been to Paris before many years ago (and Interlaken), and the emphasis of this trip is to enjoy Paris and then take it down a few notches and enjoy day hikes/walks in Switzerland. Any advice on the best way to get from Paris to our Swiss destination, and any suggestions on french stopovers in between? We do not necessarily need to stop over but I am all ears for recommendations.
Also, any hotel recommendations for Lake Como for a night or two?
Lastly, what are gals wearing in Paris these days. Ten years ago it seemed like it was mostly black. Has it changed?

Thanks much for any help.

Well, I can't answer any questions about Switzerland, but as for what Parisian women are wearing, it's still black, black, black.

There are two routes I would personally enjoy. Go from Paris to Strasbourg and spend a day or two there before heading down to Switzerland. The other way is to go through Dijon and perhaps making it to Beaune along the way. Either way, fabulous cuisine and wine!

What month are you going and are you driving or training to Switzerland?

Either Alsace or Burgundy would be a great place to stop and see some non-Parisian France en route to the Alps.

I think a small town would be best--Colmar rather than Strasbourg, Beaune better than Dijon for that purpose.

Kent,
We plan to take trains this trip (Paris to Switzerland) and would only get a car if there was some reason it was not possible to get to our main destinations.

Colmar is an excellent suggestion for an overnight stop in France on the way. Paris to Colmar is 3 to 3.5 hours by train. And Colmar to, say, Lauterbrunnen is another 3.5 hours, with train changes at Basel and Interlaken Ost.
