I am thinking of going to Paris, Bruge and Brussels next year for a week (9 days to be exact). Is this doable to see all three places or should I cut out one of the places and make it Paris and Bruge or Paris and Brussels. I have been to Paris before but want to go back and visit it again.
It is very doable, especially since you have been to Paris already. Depending on how much time you want to spend in Paris, you could probably add one more place if you wanted to. Just make sure it isn't too far away. Or you could do a day trip or two from Paris. Bruges and Brussels won't take that long to see.
9 days is enough time. You can see most of everything of interest in Brugge in two days (having a bicycle makes thing more efficient). Brussels takes a little more effort to fully appreciate. Most tourists take a look at the area around the Grand Place and assume there's nothing more, but a little exploring opens up all kinds of interesting museums, churches restaurants and parks. Minimum two days, three or four would be ideal.
PS- Check out Ghent as well.
Based on our recent visit -- I say 2+ days in Bruges, 2 hrs in Brussels ( just enough to see Grand Place )

I second Janets post.
Hello. My husband and I just returned from 34 days in London, Paris and one day in Bruges. May 9-May 22 in London. May 22 - June 10 in Paris. 2-1/2 weeks in Paris was way too long. We actually tried to get our plane changed so we could go back to London, instead of staying in Paris so long. We had been in London for 10 days a year ago and 7 days in Paris a year ago. We just took a Gray Line day a trip from Paris to Bruge. It was definitely enough time to see Bruge. There really isn't anything to do there. It is so beautiful to take the short canal ride. Other than that it is very touristy. We tok many day tours (Gray Line) outside of Paris, some I wouldn't recommend, as they were not worth the time invested and the money. Going to Bruge was the exception, it was really quaint. Elaine
I couldn't get a flight out of Paris so defaulted to Brussels. We had a great time but especially in Bruge. Our Hotel Adornes (see RS book)with canal view and great breaksfast had free bikes and we'd ride them around. It is a charmer and nice for walking in. We left Paris and had lunch in Bruge plus another full day. Final day and night in Brussels which is compact and very walkable.
Recently returned from Belgium and the Netherlands.
I suggest Paris can be visited over and over.
Bruges for 1.5/2 days. Ghent is usually charming but now under major construction. We liked Antwerp. If there is any time left and you haven't been there, consider Amsterdam. We had three days there and could have easily used 2/3 more.
I also agree with Janet....although we stayed in Bruges for 5 nights and wanted to stay longer. It was so beautiful, quiet and peaceful -- such an escape from the cacophany here in the good old USofA. However, if it's night life you're after, you won't find much of it in Bruges!
Ghent is worth half a day at least (between Bruges and Brussels).

I did Amsterdam, Bruge, and Paris in 10 days, so I think that it may be possible to do your trip. 4 days Paris, 2 Brussels, 2 Bruge would be a good combination. Since you have been to Paris before, maybe shave a day off Paris and add it to Belgium.
Yes it is doable, however, I would never go to Europe for less than 2 weeks, especially from the westcost! 2 days for travel and jetlag. These days air travel is long and difficult. I make my trips count, never less han 3 weeks for me.
Happy Travels!
Thanks everyone! Now I can start figuring out when I want to take this trip next year. I would go for longer since I get two weeks vacation from work but I already have plans for the other week. Plus I would spend as much time in Europe if I could.
