I'm just wondering about the names of hostels and hotels in Paris, Amsterdam, and Barcelona that all of you guys enjoyed or reccomend to me. I will be making my trip a month from now with my brother for 12 days and nights. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
I'm actually going in March as well, I haven't heard any reviews, but in Amsterdam I've booked Sasha B&B and Barcelona Alberguinn.com
I went to Paris and Amsterdam this past September and had great hostel experiences in both cities. In Paris we stayed at Hotel Marignan (www.hotel-marignan.com). We arrived and they didn't have our room ready for us, but they have other apartments in the city and let us stay in one of those for our stay (3 nights) and charged us the same amount they would have to stay in a double with no bathroom. It was just right around the corner from the hotel, so we were still able to benefit from the free breakfast. It was in the Latin Quarter and very short walk from Notre Dame and other wonderful sights.
In Amsterdam we stayed in a double with no bathroom at a hostel called Frederic Rent-a-Bike (www.frederic.nl/). This was my such a fantastic place, in a great neighborhood, with the friendliest staff. You are basically staying in Frederic's house afterall! They rent bikes at the hotel, too, so that was very convenient. And the fantastic people will help you out with dinner recommendations, walking tours, tours in general... I could go on and on about how great this place was!
We like to stay at Amstel Botel, right next to Centraal Station. It's a boat hotel. We also like to eat right next door at the Sea Palace (also on a boat). Order the Indonesian rice table, it's unforgettable.
