Been going crazy with all the reviews and hotels about Paris. Can anyone provide me with a good hotel close to the main tourist attractions? Will be going in July/August timeframe. Thank you! :)
Silvina, Paris has many tourist sights scattered about. There isn't just one street that has them all. You need to do some research about the different arrondissements and see which one best fits you.
Budget and how many people,, a bit more information will get you better / more specific suggestions. I have stayed at these hotels, they are all clean, safe and central locations, have a/c ( a good idea for summer) and relatively cheap,, with a few costing a bit more a few a bit less. Hotel Le Regent on Rue Dauphine, ( there is a one with similar name in different area, not as good) .. book the deluxe rooms as standards ares super small. Loved this location. Hotel Eugenie, very very central, small rooms, but everythng I needed , including a mini fridge to stock with snacks and juices. Hotel Saint Peirre, ( on Rue D'Ecole de Medicine, by the Sorbonne) ,, love this one, rooms small, but so is price! Hotel Place du la Louvre, this one is right bank, but only 1 block for Seine and Pont Neuf,, so close to many sites to walk to, and I loved the Club room "Klee"(all rooms named after an artist) and have stayed here twice. Don't book the duplex ( two level) rooms though cause the bathroom is up stairs. The club rooms are great. Hotel Des Grande Hommes, right across from Pantheon, convenient if taking RER into Paris from CDG( as are most of my hotels btw) , this hotel is "cute" as in rooms are pretty traditional decor. Service and staff are very very nice. Hotel Brighton, well this hotel I loved only because I was able to get a great rate on a Tuilleries View room, and it had two small balconies with amazing views, room is also pretty decent size, but now its gone up alot in price,, but do check it out. I| have stayed at a few other places, and all were fine, but lets start with those..
Thank you Pat and Alexander! Much appreciated. Alexander I did look into those types of things, I should have posted that! :) Pat, thank you for the recommendations. I will look into them. I will be traveling with three other people. I have been to Paris before, but many years ago and the other three have never been. Budget ranges from $100-250 (US) a night. We will be in Paris for about 4 nights. Thanks again! :)
Our criteria for how we chose our hotels may be different than others. We like an area that is quiet at night and close to a metro stop. Maybe you can narrow things down a bit when you figure in the kind of travelers you are and the area you'd like to be in.
I like the Marais area. If you are near the St Paul metro station, you are walking distance to Notre Dame and the Rive Gauche too. And the #1 metro line goes to many of the main sites on the right bank. The Latin Quarter and St. Germaine are also nice, but I think the Marais tends to be quieter at night. It's more residential. In general, it is better to be a bit farther from the "center" but closer to a metro station (5 minutes walk) and better still if the metro station has 2 or even 3 lines. Probably anything in a one-digit arrondissement will be near enough.
Try looking for an apartment. We are renting with myparisvisit.com and they have some apartments that will rent for 4 nights. They are all in very good locations most near the Louvre. I have been making plans for a year now and have found that being near the Louvre/Les Halles is extremely handy to everything except the Eiffel Tower. I will report when I get back as to the quality of the apartment but from all reviews that I have read on trip advisor people have been pleased with the apartments from this small company and the prices are quite good. I like having a kitchen and even a washing machine at my disposal.
