I'm 61 and I've been to Hawaii several times. Why go to Europe, especially Paris, instead of somewhere else?
Why did you go to Hawaii instead of someplace else?
Watch Rick's DVD on Paris and then you can answer that question for yourself!
Haven't you been to Europe? While it's important to "See North America first" as the slogan goes...Europe is absolutely amazing! And all the pretty lights of Paris at night will linger in your mind forever!
Well, if you've only been to Hawaii at age 61, I'd certainly urge you to try Maui.
Hi Neighbor,
You might have a look at this web site. It tells the truth about Paris...
If you decide to go, bon voyage ! P.
Larry, are you interested in seeing Paris? You must have an idea of what is there, the sights, the culture, the art, the history. Are you interested in seeing one of the world's greatest cities. If this does not interest you at all why even consider it? Granted, you won't be able to hang at the beach, surf and snorkle. Perhaps you might like something different.
I recommend you see it before it's too late for you to really enjoy it. Go there and answer your own question. But do the research, read Rick's and other books -- do it the back door way.
Bon voyage!
" Why go to Europe,,"
Well I don't think you should. I do not need anymore tourists clogging up my trip, LOL> If now I could convince the hundreds of thousands of other tourists to stay away from Paris then it would be mine, all mine ,, Ha ha ha. !!
Seriously, if at 61 you have never been anywhere outside your country isn't it about time!!????
But, lets be honest, Paris is not for everyone. If you have no interest in art, history, architecture, museums , good food, and wine , then don't go, LOL.
PS I love Hawaii too, been about 5 or 6 times, but when I am there I just go for the beach and for vegging out and reading a book under a palm tree.
Larry,
Are you going alone? It makes a world of difference if you have a partner to plan such a trip. Let the group know!
Craig
I think experiencing different cultures is one of the most life-changing, mind expanding experiences you can have. Of course, Hawaii does have a very different culture, too. But I think the more you are exposed to, the broader your perspective becomes.
Continuing...
Paris was the first place in Europe that my husband and I traveled to, and we had an amazing time. We have returned to Europe for two more trips in the last two years. I still look back on Paris as being my favorite place. The sites, the history, the beauty of the city have me wanting to go back again.
I have only been to Europe twice--once to Ireland, and once to Paris, but I'm planning another three-week trip through Europe for January--and I'm definitely returning to Paris. I think that the amazing thing about Europe (from an American perspective) is the history that surrounds you. You just don't see buildings in the US that are hundreds of years old--and still in use!! Although you may have seen famous works of art or landmarks on TV dozens of times (like the Eiffel Tower) it never quite compares to actually being there and seeing it for yourself!
Craig, My wife,60, will be going with me. I like history and nature. I'm afraid she likes modern "glitz".
So Paris is a good choice--history for you; glitz for her! And while it's not unspoiled nature, like parts of Hawaii, you can enjoy parks in Paris.
I live in Hawaii most of the year so I say Mahalo to all you that have good things to say about Hawaii. Why aren't I here year around? Because I go to Europe each summer! Would I give up Hawaii, after 23 years, for Europe - IN A MINUTE!
Wow Larry, you and your wife will be all set then! Paris is the glitz and style capital of the world, and has fabulous historical sights. I'm sure you will both be in heaven. Read up on Louis XIV & XVI, Marie Antionette, Napoleon, history of all the artists who lived and worked there -- and you will see fabulous things. And both of you will love Versailles - where history and glitz comes together in a big way!
