Parc des Butte Charmont

Worth a visit? Thinking about a morning visit and then walking over to Parc de Belleville...

Appreciate your feedback!

My wife (62), son (24) an I took a walk from a Paris Walks book that included Pere Lechaise cemetery (their idea), Parc de Belleville, and Butte Charmont. The book did not make it sound like a long walk and we stopped for lunch after the cementery. I enjoyed it well enough, but my family added it to their list of "Death Marches" that I have taken them on. There is a lot of up and down that you do not realize when looking at the map.
If you have a lot of time in Paris and like to walk (or limit the walking,) you might enjoy it. You would get a different answer from my wife.

Hi Linda,
We are planning on walking either to this park or back from this park July 3. There's a taxi stand shown on my rough guide Paris map at Rue Botzaris at the SE corner of the park. The walk would involve walking through the park, going from there towards the Canal St. Martin, walking along the canal until it goes underground near the Bastille, then heading back across the islands to our Latin Quarter Hotel. One way, it's about four miles. It looks interesting from all of the research I have done; I will be happy to let you know how it was when we get back if that isn't too late to help you. Google maps now has a "walk" function if you want to check out the route.

As Douglas above mentioned the basic maps don't show hills..and therefore all looks flat. Les Buttes-Chaumont has some nice trees, but it's another hill
