We're going to be in Spain for Christmas. Can you wear pants to midnight mass? I plan to pack light and was not planning to take a skirt. Any tips would be appreciated.

Yes, if they are tasteful, like tailored wool pants with matching appropiate shoes, and no jeans. Since it is an important religious occasion and ceremony (Midnight Mass has more pomp than Christmas Day Mass), you may want to wear an age appropiate dress w/your shoulders covered. It is wise to overdress for these types of occasions.

Also keep in mind that depending upon location, the church will either be chilly or outright cold. If you will be attending one of the more popular cathedrals, remember to arrive early, as they tend to get crowded fast.
