Looking for hotel after our RS Paris trip. Wanted to use points at a US hotel chain since hotels are so expensive. Does anyone know if any of the chains Radison, Holiday Inn, Marriott have two bedded rooms? Or any other hotel suggestions that would not break the bank. Thank you so much for your help.
Try Ibis or Etap for reasonable rates.
I spent months, literally months, looking for every single option for our family of 4. Finally, we decided on a B&B, which we think and hope will be good. Rick Steves recommends it in his book - http://www.bed-and-breakfast-in-paris.com/Dicillin.php?ml=rechEN
Good luck. Finding accommodation in Paris for a family is not easy. They don't seem to cater to children.
Campanille has rooms for a crowd; they're scattered all over town. So does the Cluny Sorbonne which is right on the northeast corner of the university.
It's not just Paris where it's hard to find a room for a family. It's all of Europe. I've found that maybe around 25% of places have rooms big enough for a family of 4. Try a website like booking.com, you can at least make it part of your search criteria that you need a room for 2 adults and 2 kids. That'll give you an idea of who has room that size and what their rates are.
My favorite hotel in Paris is l'Hotel Hameau (everyone has already heard me ranting about how fab it is). I just checked, and their website lists "quadruple rooms" starting at 133 Euros a night. I cannot personally vouch for this, but you might want to check it out. If you use the contact form on their site to email them, they get right back to you. http://www.paris-hotel-hameaudepassy.com/
LA - Hotel Marignan has quad rooms for 140€ a night. I have not stayed at this hotel, but a friend has and I value his opinion. He said it met his family needs well. www.hotel-marignan.com/html/p1_a.htm
LOL - when I saw this post I thought someone had lost 2 kids and 2 adults in a Paris hotel room......I wondering how we could help. Did you look under the beds, in the shower? How about the wardrobe?
Steve, you're making me laugh! :-)
Hotwire is another option. But they're not cheap either, last I checked. Our B&B - works out to $234 US per night - not cheap at all, but we tried EVERYTHING. At least breakfast is included, as well as access to laundry. Paris just does not seem to want to have kids around ... very kid-unfriendly, unless if one has tons and tons of $, or, just 1 kid. Most hotel rooms seem to have a 1-child policy. A real and complete pain.
Some other options that we were close to choosing, before deciding on the B&B that Rick Steves recommends in his book and that I linked earlier http://www.cujas-pantheon-paris-hotel.com/index.html http://www.hotelportroyal.fr/ http://www.le-sevigne.com/ Good luck. It's not easy ...
Thank you everyone for your suggestions and for the laugh about missing peeps in hotel rooms. So I am guessing locals do not take their little peeps to hotels or is every family only one kid?
LA, I know that you said that you want to use points, but if you can't find a good option there, look at renting an apartment. We usually use VRBO.com or Homelidays.com to find apts in the EU, and we have had very good luck with these two sites.
I often have this problem, as I have 3 kids.
I use booking.com because they will find family rooms if they are available. On my last trip, I found a sweet little reasonably priced hotel in Paris that had adjoining rooms that I loved called La Maison Montparnasse in the 14th.
Here's another Alcove and Agape that I read from another thread; haven't tried it myself though. http://www.bed-and-breakfast-in-paris.com/Dicillin.php?ob=c0299900001lst300000000084
Here's a link to a website that lists hotels with family rooms in Paris: http://www.hotelaparis.com/hotels-avec-chambre-familiale-paris.html We have 3 kids and find it extremely difficult to find a hotel room for a family of 5 anywhere in Europe. We've been fairly lucky by contacting the TI or using the TI website for cities we wish to visit. But when we wanted to stay just one night in Paris, it was hard. Booking.com is a good option as someone else mentioned. You can also call the chain hotels such as Ibis as a lot of times they have connecting rooms, but don't advertise them. We've had success with Ibis and Holiday Inn Express (although haven't tried them in Paris) having unadvertise family rooms. Good luck!
LA - have you checked with the hotel you'll be staying at on the RS trip? Sounds like they have rooms to accommodate your family and you may be able to negotiate a good rate since you are just extending your stay. You'll also save time since you won't have to change hotels. Hope you have a great trip - I love Paris!
Like the idea of maybe trying an apartment for our family. Any good choices to take a look at that would book for only 2 or 3 days? Thanks
