My friend and I want to attend the opera at Palais Garnier on June 30. We can't buy tickets yet but have been looking at the seating chart. It's very confusing to us. I looked in the archive but didn't find answers to our questions...
If I am reading the information correctly for the actual opera we are attending the only ticket prices listed are 7€, 10€, 21€, 40€, 70€, 116€, 138€, 172€. These prices could correspond with the Tarif A, D or E rows on the pricing list. How do we know which Tarif to look at (or doesn't it really matter, the only difference seems to be between Optima and Category 1 seats)?
We actually like opera, the fact that it's at the Garnier is a bonus. We know we don't want the cheap seats (we want to be comfortable and have a clear view) and we know that we can't afford the highest price points, we want to be budget-minded but are willing to pay more if the difference in experience is that much better so that means probably Category 2,3, or 4. They all look good on the map but the price range is vastly different. Is Category 2 that much better than Category 4? Is Category 3 a good compromise?
Once we pick a category where within the category do we want to sit (each category seems to be spread all over)? Do we want to be in the orchestra seats or higher up? If so, how high should we go? Is to the side better or in the back?
Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
