Palace of Catalan Music-Barcelona

We have tickets to a concert at the Palace of Catalan Music in Barcelona. Do we need to take a tour of the concert hall as well? Can do a few hours beforehand.

If you want an English tour you will have to reserve ahead of time, but your hotel can probably help with that. I think RS recommends skipping the tour if you are going to an event, but of course you would miss background info given on the tour.

First, congrats on finding this often missed gem! We did the tour and a concert with enjoyment of both. The tour offers a video which is beneficial to understanding the history, but attending the concert may serve to meet your needs. Do dress up a tad for the concert (in other words avoid the tourist "look") and you will blend in with the locals. My wife wore a nice dress and I was in pants and a long sleeve shirt. I ditched the sports coat due to being a very hot day. Arrive early and take a walk up the stairs at the front entrance to gather an idea of the splendor of the architecture. No flash photography, but cameras are okay. After the concert you will have a short amount of time to take additional photos and walk around a bit. Be sure and get the best photo possible of the ceiling! There is a tapas cafe and I recommend blending in some tapas and cava as part of the experience. Enjoy!

Thank you for your help fellow travelers. And thanks for the heads up on the dress code--great excuse for me to dress up and to tell our friend to ditch the Hawaiian shirt!

If you are referring to the Palau de la Musica Catalana and I think you are, they do not allow photos. It is a privately owned building. If you took photos, apparently no one noticed. I have taken the tour and they were
Adamant about that.

I took plenty of photos of it when we went to a concert there. It's a fantastic place inside and out, and the acoustics were terrific.
