Hey guys, We're in Paris right now and would like to find some original oil paintings (cafe scenes, Eiffel Tower, etc). Ideally, a square like Piazza Navona in Rome and its artists would be perfect. Any thoughts on artistic hot spots in Paris? Thanks!

On the right bank, across the river from the Isle St. Louis, is an arts colony in a very ugly, non-descript modern building. It's called the Cité Internationale des Arts and it is full of artists who are given cheap rent on a temporary basis so that they can work in Paris. We met a painter of the Isle St. Louis who was painting a great cafe scene where we were having lunch. We got to talking to him and he took us to his studio in this building. We spent time talking to him and then bought the beautiful painting that we had been watching him work on. There are many artists painting in this area and many of them live in this building. Hope you find something perfect to take home with you!
Plenty of cheap art for sale in Montmartre.
I imagine the weather is keeping the artists indoors (although there's no rain in the forecast for the next couple days...) Montmarte or the banks of the Seine by Notre Dame should find you some original artwork.
