Packing for Paris

Is it still warm in Paris first couple of weeks in October?

We were in Paris last October 4-7 and it was probably about 65 most days and mostly cloudy with some sun breaks, so it was quite comfortable when doing a lot of walking. It rained one morning for a few hours and it was drizzling on the day we left. For the rest of that trip we were in Corsica, and in the south and southwest of france and it was sunny and warm almost every day!

Thank you so much. I figured layers would be the way to go.

It can be warm with drizzle, but it can also be HOT. Layers are your best bet. Pack a brelly. And do not forget the single MOST IMPORTANT THING about packing for Paris - comfortable shoes. By this I do not mean shoes that were comfy in the store and looked cute with those slacks. I also don't mean horrible puffy white American-style trainers. I mean walking shoes - that you have broken in - with plenty of thickness to the sole and good arch support. You will need shoes that are like HEAVEN, because the cobblestones are like, well... the opposite. Parisian streets come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and heights of cobblestones. These cobblestones change (from rough to smooth and slippery, from high to low, from large to small) sometimes from block to block. And as for sidewalks - they can be skinny and very sloping in places. And Paris virtually demands a lot of walking in order to truly absorb its unique charms. So don't sabotage yourself with bad shoes!
