Overnight stop driving between Provence and Paris

I will be driving from Provence back to Paris. Any recommendations for a nice spot to stop overnight to break up the drive?

Hi Joan,

We are traveling the opposite direction (arriving at Vaison la Romaine) and are staying at Beaune, Côte-d'Or, Burgundy - looks very interesting. Found it in Rick's 2009 France book.

Good luck!

Which town in Provence are you starting from? (makes a difference in the answer)

I agree with Beaune. Particularly for overnight because there is more to do in the evening than in the smaller towns.

Hi Joan,
I drove from Isle Sur La Sorgue to Beaune (about 4 hours). I then headed to Colmar before heading back to Paris, but Beaune is spectacular. You probably won't have time, but we rented bikes in beaune and pedaled through the vineyards to many little villages. Might have been my best day in Europe (out of 4 countries and about 10 weeks of travel over the years).
GREAT wine in Beaune, too.
