We are flying into Amsterdam and leaving the following morning by train to Brussels. Where shall we stay for one night, not too expensive, convenient to the airport? I am finding that Rick's recommended hotels are either fully booked or have a 2 or 3 night minimum. Thanks for your ideas.
Donna,
Haarlem is only a short bus ride to Amsterdam and to Skipol airport. You might check on hotel availability there via www.Google.com... P.
Hi Donna,
I just stayed in Amsterdam for one night. I stayed in Hotel Moevenpick, near the Central Station. It's a modern, new and super clean hotel. Price for a Thursday night was €90. Hope this could be helpful. Have a wonderful trip!
Hi Donna,
There's an excellent, inexpensive & frequent train service to and from Schipol airport into Amsterdam centre, which it would be a shame to miss.
The city centre is compact and it's safe to walk round at night.
I've stayed there several times, each time in a different hotel, but all of them central. I've found them all on the booking.com website. As long as you pick one that's within the circle made by the first canal you will be within an easy walk to the train station. The nicest hotel we stayed in was the Golden Tulip, but there are 2 of them, you really want the one near the train station.
Hope you have a great trip!
The Golden Tulip is virtually on the rail tracks. If you stay there, be sure to take earplugs. And it isn't a pretty part of Amsterdam. But it is convenient and should be clean and modern.
