OUR SWITZERLAND TRIP

Must say this country is beautiful beyond description. People are friendly and are very healthy-type folks. Bike rider and hikers everywhere. Started in Zurich went on to Lucerne which has the Pilutus (must see) gondola. Hiked up from Alpnachstad (5 hours) and rode down. Fantastic views. Onward via the Golden Pass to Interlaken which is a holding area to see the Berner Oberland area. Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Wengen are neat places. Schithorn is another must see. View from up there is incredible. It takes a long time to get there however. The Wengen/Kleine Scheidegg area is great hiking country. There is a much traversed trail (mostly downhill) from Mannlichen (via the Wengen gondola)to Kleine Scheidegg. About 45 minute walk replete with an outdoor café on the way. The Eiger acts as the background for all to marvel at. The Wengen area is a must stop to stay all night. The trip down to Zermatt features views one can’t describe. You’re in the valley most of the time and the scenery is incredible. Up at the Gornergrat watching the Matterhorn come in/out of the clouds was breath taking. Even though the weather down below was sunny it was very cool up on top. But the hike down (about 5K feet/2 hours) to Zermatt made one forget the cool air. Finished back in Zurich and even took a boat ride. All in all, I can't say enough about Switzerland and all of its beauty. I’d love to take a Harley over there and ride the country side. A must is to purchase before hand, a Swiss rail pass and see all of this country. Plot your vacation via the internet and message boards like this one. You'll never regret/forget it.
