Does this sound doable We have 2 weeks and booked our plane tickets already flying into Paris-3 days, Germany by the black forest for 3 days we love to hike, belguim/brugges 3 days and amsterdam 4 days alot of people are telling me that is too many days in amsterdam? Thanks!!
I think it's too long in Amsterdam, especially if you like to hike. Take more time in Belgium and Germany.
Do the math. If you have fourteen days and subtract the arrival and departure days, you're down to twelve. You also have three inter-european transfer days, which puts you down to nine. Three in France, three in Germany, three in Belgium, three in the Netherlands equals twelve. The fourth day in Amsterdam is moot - - the bigger question is what else you're going to cut.
Don't think you need four days in Amsterdam. We stayed there for 4 nights and used it as our base and then did day trips to Haarlem, Delft and several other nearby towns.
Never too many days in Amsterdam....
Can't tell exactly how many full days you have, but here are some ideas: First of all, you use up a full day getting to the Black Forest and another getting from there to Brugge. If you mainly just want to get to a forest area for some hiking, go to Luxembourg. It's half a day to get there & another half day to Brugge (you just saved a day). The little country has many national hiking trails. For time's sake, mayby cut the hiking to 2 days (it's something you don't have to go to Europe to do). I'd also cut Brugge to 2 days... that's plenty of time to see everything there. Paris you need at least the 3 full days & maybe another. Two days in Amsterdam is okay to see the highlights, and a third day is good for a day trip to visit Delft & the Hague.
Thanks everyone for the tips! Does anyone have a hotel or b&b they recommend in amsterdam and belguim?
Suggestion for canal cruise but not sure if they still do it but an ex-pat from US has canal cruises that only take about 8-10 people and I think was only 15 euro and it was informative and fun. We took our own wine and cheese as he recommended and had a great time. It is run out of Boom Chicago, might check it out. Also if going to Anne Frank's I think you would be better to get tickets ahead of time. Enjoy.
Boogaards in Amsterdam, Absolut Verhulst in Bruges. Check them out on Trip Advisor. Great locations for both cities.
Check out this B&B in Brugges. We LOVED this place. Great rooms, location, and host.

Another suggestion for filling up time on your last few days....take a trip to Antwerp for diamond shopping. Very fun!
Agree with Tim's comment that the Black Forest involves a lot of travel time just for hiking. You'll find similar hiking in Germany that is a good bit closer to Bruges and Paris in the Rhine and Mosel valleys. The long-distance Rheinsteig trail is very popular, but you'll find many other good trails in this area of charming villages and terrific scenery with a little research.
Does anyone have a hotel or b&b they recommend in amsterdam and belguim? All of Belgium is a large place, major cities included are Liege, Antwerpen, Mechelin, Oostende, Brugge, Brussells, Charleroi, Mons, etc. Are looking anywhere particular or would any of those be OK?
I spent 6 days in Amsterdam last year and could still have found more to do ... but then I love cities and can spend hours randomly wandering. Hotel Brouwer there was lovely. I spent three days in Bruges on the same trip, and that was far too much. You can see the whole place in a day. What about Brussels?
