Hello All, Can someone tell me how to get from ORLY airport to the Republique Metro Station in Paris? I don't know if it is better to take a taxi (which I feel will be expensive) or the train, or the bus??? I am at a lose with this being my first trip to Paris.

Hi Savannah. Good public trans from Orly. go to Orly airport web site. My advice - buy rick Steves Paris book - this and a hundred other questions will be answered... Enjoy your trip!

There lots of ways. the RATP website gives suggestions for fastest, least transfers, least walking. www.ratp.fr/itineraires/

Savannah, You may find it helpful to have a look at the excellent Paris By Train website. It has good information on the best methods for getting from Orly into Paris. The easiest method (IMO) would be to take the OrlyVal service from the airport to Antony RER station. Then take the RER "B" line (direction Airport Charles de Gaulle / Mitry-Claye) and disembark at Gare du Nord. Transfer to Metro Line 5 (direction Place d'Italie). Republique should be the third stop. You could also take the RER "B" to Châtelet Les Halles, walk to Châtelet and then take Metro Line 11 to Republique (direction Mairie des Lilas). Although Gare du Nord is also a large station, I suspect it will be easier to navigate than the walk at Châtelet. It may sound rather complicated, but in reality it's very easy. I prefer travel by RER or Metro, as they're not affected by traffic, so no delays with the meter running. Happy travels!

http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/ADP/en-GB/Passagers/Home/ This site will give you a very comprehensive schematic plan of all the public transit services to Orly. Neither the Metro nor regional commuter trains go right to the terminal but the shuttles are quick.

The cheapest route would be to take the airport shuttle bus (€2.50) to the Pont de Rungis RER station. Take the RER C to Gare d'Austerlitz, transfer to Metro line 5, and take it to Republique. The fare is €4.10. IMO, this also is the easiest route.
