I have a Great Uncle that fought with the 36th Infantry Division from Northern Africa to Austria and wanted to get information about tours that may be available in southern France/Germany/Austria. It seems the only tours are for Operation Overlord in northern France. I'm trying to piece together a trip with my father for a retirement present. Any info would be very much appreciated.
I think you will have to design this for yourself, though there may be some local guides who can put something together for you at different locations. One stop I would suggest is the Resistance Museum in Fontaine de Vaucluse.
That's what I thought. I may be able to get a copy of my Great Uncle's service records. I was then planning on trying to read some after action reports from his unit and build a trip out of that. Thanks again!
Hi, When I was in Toulon, I had the chance to see the museum on this Anvil-Dragoon landing, it's called Museum of the Landing. Ask at the Tourist Office or the train station for its exact location. You'll need a car,.. luckily I was driven there. You'll recognise the museum by the Sherman tank out front but with French markings.
