Has anyone been to an opera at Opera Bastille? I am wondering if there really are cheap tickets available. Has anyone had standing only tickets? Was it worth it? Any tips on getting tickets?
Check calendar and purchase your tickets ahead of time and online at the Fr National Opera de Paris website: http://www.operadeparis.fr/cns11/live/onp/ If you want an authentic Paris experience get tickets to a performance at the Palais Garnier instead.
The cheapest price on the official website is 75 euros. I've read about 15 euro tickets, which is what I'm interested in.
Just returned from a month in Paris and stayed in an apartment just across from the Opera Bastille. Our big regret? Not buying opera tickets before we left home. When we got there every one was sold out. Did go to an incredible concert there, though. The only tickets left were in the nosebleed section (ten Euro--a bargain) but we could hear every note.
Get your tickets ASAP!
Opera tickets are in great demand even at full price. You have to watch the web site for when they go on sale for your dates and grab them. If you wait until you arrive, you might not get any. I don't know if rush seats exist for either Opera Bastille or Garnier.
