Since we only have one full day in Normandy, am I correct in assuming that it would be better to hire a driver/guide instead of trying to rent a car and do a self guided tour?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We took the 9 hour Battle Bus Tour. VERY please with the knowledge the guide had of Normandy.

A car would be a hassle, especially if you are only renting for one day. My husband and I also did the Battlebus tour and couldn't have been more pleased. The guides are professional, have an amazing amount of knowledge, and you get to see many of the main D-Day sites in Normandy. It's definitely a worthwhile trip.

I wouldn't miss the Museum of Peace in Caen - it's a truly great museum and they run van tours of the beaches as well.

Do SKIP the museum in Caen. It is expensive, would take your whole day to visit and the focus is not WW2 as many people presume.
