We arrive at Frankfurt airport at 9 PM on the last night of our trip. We have to be back at the airport by 6:30 AM the next morning. I've reviewed the links to FRA airport hotels and am wondering if we have time to go into Mainz to spend the night? It appears we could easily catch a train to Mainz. Will the trains run that early in the morning back to the airport? Thanks for any suggestions.

If you google German Railroad map, the 1st or 2nd site is RailExpress. They have an interactive map of the train routes and you can input your desired departure city, date and arrival city and it will show you all the scheduled trains for that trip with the scheduled time.

My question is, why? You are just spending the night. If you don't want to stay right at the airport, a taxi to and from Motel One is cheap enough and the Motel itself is inexpensive. It is also brand-new and while it doesn't have the ambiance of a typical "Rick Steves" hotel, for the price and for a place just to sleep for a night, it is perfect. Very friendly folks running it, good breakfast in the morning (though you may be leaving too early to get it) and nice and quiet.
