One Night In Paris

Hi folks, great site! I need a recommendation for one night in Paris in early September. Coming in from London through the Chunnel on a Thursday afternoon and taking a Night Train to Florence the next Friday evening. Don't really have a budget, 200 USD a night would probably work, convenient to get to the train stations. Possibly in 1, 7 or 8. Thanks!

On our last night in France last July we needed a hotel in Paris too. We chose the Best Western Cluny, it is in the Latin Quarter near the Musee du Moyan Age. The rooms were tiny but the staff are very nice, English speaking. The hotel is on a quiet street, air conditioned and secure.
The hotel is close to the Seine, Notre Dame, and lots of yummy restaurants. The only time we spent in this room was to sleep, other than that it was a great area to walk around our last night.
Don't remember the cost but a quick internet search will tell you.

Hey Chris,
Have you booked a hotel room yet? We are going to be in Paris in July and we are also taking the night train to Florence. How did you book the train?

What does "possibly in 1, 7 or 8" mean? For one night I would stay near the train station to Florence (Bercy?) Your question is a little general. Almost any hotel in Paris is close to a Metro station and would hold your luggage after check-out time on Friday. I would probably stay in the Marais (the 4th) and catch the #1 Metro to Bercy (if that is your train station). The only hotel I know there is Hotel Jeanne D'Arc. Inexpensive but usually full.

Chris, I'm trying to figure out why no one responded to your question. In my case it's because when I went to Paris for the first time last year, I stayed in an apartment. I am now planning a trip to Belgium this fall and I'm planning to spend the first and last night in Paris, so I am in a similar situation as you. I still haven't figured out where to say.

Anyway, I'm thinking maybe your comment about being "convenient to get to the train stations" is the problem -- too general. Also, what do you mean by convenient to get to? Do you want to walk or would you be okay taking the metro? I'm just guessing, but maybe you need to be more specific.

I haven't looked at the 1st or 8th arrondisements, but I have checked out the 7th a bit (though I've decided to try to find a place in the 6th where we stayed last year). Some hotels that have been recommended on this site that I looked at are Hotel Grand Leveque, Hotel du Champs de Mars and Hotel Cadran. I thought Hotel du Champs de Mars looked the best.

Good luck!
