I'm arriving in Barcelona airport around 7 pm on a Tuesday evening, and then I fly out the next morning to Budapest (10 am flight via Ryanair, so I'll have to be at the airport around 8 or 8:30 am). Does anyone have any suggestions on a decent hostel I should stay at? Also, is it worth traveling into Barcelona's city centre for the night or should I just find accommodation near the airport? I'll be in Europe for about 5 weeks, so I will be ending my trip in Barcelona anyways, but I don't want to waste a night in the hostel by an airport if it's easy enough to get back to the airport from the city centre in the morning. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)
It's very easy to get a taxi in Barcelona and the airport is not that far from the center, so if you are willing to use a taxi you can certainly stay in the center painlessly. If you want to use other transit you will have to investigate, but I'm sure that would work as well, since you don't have a really early flight like 6 AM. I used the Aerobus and it was very easy, but I was staying at the top of the Ramblas right at Placa Catalunya, where the bus stops. Remember that you will be arriving in Barcelona in time for dinner, rather than during or after dinner as in some places. So, I'd definitely find a place in the center, so as to enjoy it.
Given you are ending your five week trip w time to spare in barcelona, I would focus upon obtaining good accommodations, resting and adjusting to time change.
Since you will be returning to Barcelona I tend to agree with Steven. Find a place near the airport and get some rest before your trip really begins the following day.
