I got my plane tickets RT to Amsterdam and will start the trip with a few days there, then 20 days around Europe, ending in Paris. My plane out of Schipol is at 4 PM, so I have the option of taking a very early train on the morning of flight, but I think I'd feel more secure arriving in Amsterdam the night before. So, where to stay near train (?) since I'll get in about 9 PM or better to stay near airport? Since I'll have started my trip there, I don't need to do any tourist stuff prior to the flight at 4 PM, but it would be nice to be able to take a walk, have a little lunch, etc. Suggestions??
There is an Ibis Hotel attached to Centraal Station. Rates are around $140US a night.

Theres a ton of stuff right now. For the past few days there has been a carnival set up in dam square, nice weather, throngs of ppl (getting a hotel near schipol may be easier?). Id suggest a stroll down damrak and hang out and grab some dinner in spui or rembrandtplein. That is an easy walk from centraal station.
Even if you get to cs at 2100 or 2200 that is still pretty early.

This is strange, but I read in Budget Travel that there is a new upscale hostel.. read hotel at the airport. You could get a room and then go into Amsterdam and come back to the airport.. it is right beside the runway, but no noise.
The hostel name is Citizen M; there is also a branch in Amsterdam.
