One June Night in Paris???

My wife, 18 year-old son, and I will be spending one evening in Paris in late June, after spending a week near Avignon. We'll fly back home the following day from CDG. We'd appreciate hearing about suggestions on nice and not too expensive places to stay. We'll want to spend time showing our son a few of the great monuments, and will be looking for a "neighborhood" restaurant for dinner. Suggestions on that are welcome as well.

Thanks in advance for any help.

My suggestion and what I have done for years is stay at Hotel Kensington www.hotel-kensington.com (about 70EDb add a bed is extra) in rue cler area and walk to Eiffel Tower, Seine River and much more.Is much better than website shows. Eat dinner at reasonably priced La Varangue around the corner. Both these are recommended by RS guidebks.enjoy.

Thanks, JS, very helpful. Yes, the rue Cler area is where we are leaning.

I agree with JS, recommendation for one night. though if you want to book a Rick S. recommended hotel in rue Cler area you should book soon, may not be avaialable now. but there are other places around too. You will be in a good one night location. The E. Tower is the #1 attractions in my opinion, discounting the museums. Any of Rick's recommended restaurants in the area will be fine also.

Have to also agree with JS. Rue Cler is pretty darn close to the Eiffel Tower, and for one night in Paris, you definitely can't miss it. IF you have the time, look into the "Bateau Mouche" for a few hours in the evening (this is the boat tour on the Seine River - it docks at one of the bridges, can't remember which one).
