one day in Milan two days lake District

Okay - with the above time limits does anyone have any suggestions? I'm much more interested in the beauty of the Lake District but have heard I need to at least go to the top of the Duomo in Milan. Any other sites we "must see" in one afternoon?

Arrange to see THE LAST SUPPER (you need a reservation), maybe walk through the Galleria and hot foot it to Lake Como. You won't be disappointed.
Was surprised that Rick spent so much time on his recent video on Milan...it is just a big business-oriented city. Half day at most.

Hello Paula. I recommend : go to Lake Maggiore, to the west side of it, to a town that is north of Stressa, near the border of Switzerland. (I forget the name of the town). Busses go from it to Stressa.
If you go there, you may wish to be at Lake Maggiore for three days. I was in Milan. I do not know of any "must see" sites in Milan. Milan is the most unpleasant city that I was ever in.

My wife tells me I love Milan. My wife tells me I just love shopping for fashion bargains in Milan. My wife tells me I just love an evenings opera in Milan. My wife tells me opera at La Scala is cheaper than at Covent Garden in London ( that's true but buying jewelery for Liz Taylor is cheaper than opera at Covent Garden ). My wife tells me that I just love the fact that everywhere I go in Milan I can look up and see snow covered mountains. My wife tells me that Milan is not just another European business city like Frankfurt or Manchester and that I really enjoy it, especially the shoe shops and the dress shops and the accessory shop.

Me - I'd sooner spend THREE days in the Lake District !!!!!!!

Trained it from Paris to Varenna on Lake Como 3 or 4 years ago. Changed trains in Milan and was there for 35 minutes. That was long enough for me. Been there, done that. Stayed in Varenna for 3 nights, wife and I loved it and would go back again. However, if you only have 3 days in Italy then the Duomo/Last Supper may be tempting. bob
