on the way to Paris - Burgundy

Hello,
As we make our way via train from Italy to Paris I was thinking of staying a night or two close to Paris but in the country - Maybe somewhere in the Burgundy region. Does anyone know of a decent place to stay? Does this sound like a good idea? or should we press on and get to Paris? Thanks for the help!

Burgundy is reasonably enroute, but if you really want to get out into the country you will need a car. A good small-town bet that is served by rail is Beaune, a bustling friendly place with lots to see and do and bikes for rent. If you are traveling from Great City to Greaty City and would like a break, then Burgundy might be just the ticket. If not, there's not much that beats Paris.

I agree with Adam. We loved Burgundy, and stayed in Beaune which was really enjoyable. But, if you have limited time for Paris, I would spend the time in Paris - my favorite place of all.

Thanks for the advice. We can't decide if we should do one long travel day to get to Paris or make it a little more leisurely and stay in Beaune for a night or two.
