Oktoberfest Reservations

I had no idea I was going to be in Munich during Oktoberfest. Awesome timing! And when I talked with some people who lived in Germany, they said I had to reserve a seat at a beer hall because it has become so popular.

I'm not sure how to do this. I'm not even sure which tent to choose. There are too many!

I'm going September 19-21. Any advice?

Get on Oktoberfest.de and click on tents. That's how we made reservations last year and did so about six months in advance. They sell out quickly, especially the Hofbrau and Hippodrom. The medium and smaller tents are easier to get into and in my opinion better. You can enter just about any tent, but remember...no seat, no beer. They won't serve you inside a tent without a seat. Don't forget to take some alka-seltzer with you...

This will be our first year at Oktoberfest too and we can't wait! From what I've read, the tables have been reserved for months and reservations are only for groups of 10 or more, anyway.

I don't know how many are in your group but there are only 2 of us and we've been assured that getting into a tent shouldn't be a problem but get there early (like 7am on the weekends and noon on weekdays). Every tent should have a section for people without reservations and if those seats are all taken, try to find a table with a few empty seats and ask to join that table (offering to buy a round would be a nice gesture). Good way to make some new friends too!

Have fun!

Ditto what Kari says. Unless you are a large group reservations are not available, and they are all probably sold out anyway.

We'll be there for our 3rd time without reservations. See you there!

Prost!!
