Oktoberfest For A Non Beer Drinker

We will be going to Oktoberfest this year. My husband is a beer drinker, but I am not. Is wine available there?

Thanks Ed. Now I know I can get as drunk as everyone else! ;-)

RESTROOMS!!!

I think you can imagine how the lines are, so get in line well before you, ahem, need to...

Of course, wine has less water in it than a liter of beer [does it come in another size? ;-) ], but still...

I think that in addition to my collaboration with Kent and our 'paper-leggie things' we're gonna sell at Vatican City, we should branch out and sell adult diapers at beer festivals...

Ciao, again, Andrea! My wife isn't a beer drinker, either, BUT readily admits that the beer in Munchen (Augustiner, especially) is SO vastly different (better) than any beer she's ever tasted, she could be a beer drinker if she lived THERE. I'm more of a wine guy, too (Gruner Veltliner, mainly Austrian, is a dry white with nice minerality worth trying there if you haven't yet had it!), but I'm just saying: you might wish to at least sample a German draft beer (vom fass, I think they say).

I am not a beer drinker and this is my second Oktoberfest in Munich. Now, I don't recall any wine at the tents we were at (besides the wine tent which was AWESOME), but no worries. I drank Radlers. Very tasty and go down quite easily. Will you get drunk? Probably not. I didn't anyway but it's still fun to be a part of the fun.

The Radler ("cyclist") is a Biermischgetränk with a long history in German-speaking regions; it consists of a 50%/50% or 60%/40% mixture of various types of beer and German-style soda pop or lemonade.

Thanks everyone.

Okay, I was kidding about the getting drunk part. I definitely know my limits! The last thing I want is to be hung over. My hubby enjoyed the Guinness in Dingle a little too much and I spent the next morning driving the Dingle Peninsula by myself. His loss...

I have had sips of beer in Germany, but it is just not my thing.

Octoberfest means BEER BEER AND MORE BEER! It was also a little tough for my wife that's not a beer drinker. Radler's do make up a little for he non beer drinker. BUT let me warn you (like my brother in law warned me). If you can be around a lot of beer drinking drunks, the smell of vomit and pee, you'll be ok. If not, well... you decide. This is a trip I'll still make again, but I love beer and this is beer nirvana ;-)
