Oktoberfest Accomodations

Any suggestions where to stay or what area has easy public transportation to the festivities and lots to do in walking distance?

Check out Hotel Jedermann. Its a block away, but on the quiet side of the block. Also easy access elsewhere. Whatever you decide you should book soon. Don't let anyone tell you you've got time. Josh.

Public transportation to and from the festival grounds is excellent from any point in the city, so you may want to consider staying in the city center, near the Marienplatz, Englischergarten or Viktulianmarkt. Even though Oktoberfest is one of the largest parties on earth, there's not too much to see and do around the fairgrounds once you're finished. You'll find the city center far more interesting for walking.

Just make sure your hotel is relatively close to a metro station and you will be fine. The public transportation was great. I stayed at a Holiday Inn because I used up some reward points for a couple nights stay. Otherwise the hotel costs sky-rocket.

Ganya, you MUST make your Oktoberfest bookings ASAP. Check sites like hrs.com, ehotel.de or hotel.de. Book today! When in Munich I like to stay at the Olmyp hotel in Eching (only good if you've got a car) and usually it's around €49 to €69 incl. breakfast. During Oktoberfest their best rate is around €189!

I recommend the Hotel Uhland which is in a nice residential neighborhood within easy walking distance to the Oktoberfest fairground, as well as a 20 minute walk to Marienplatz. We had quad corner rooms with small little balconies. I'd definitely stay there again. Good luck.
