Oktoberfest 2010 - last second trip; need a reasonable hotel...

I just now found out that I'm going to be in Munich for Oktoberfest this year from Sept 20-22. I'm DESPERATE for a reasonably priced place to stay. Everything is +$200/night. I understand completely why it's so expensive, but I would greatly appreciate any insider advice, insight or assistance. Thanks!

OK, but you'll have to hurry making the booking! Go to www.hrs.com (Germany's leading hotel reservation service) and enter Munich and your dates. You'll find a Best Western in Parsdorf, which is a suburb of Munich well connected by public transport. The Best Western Erb is €111 per room and night and the "Dependance Erb" is €83 per room and night (double rooms).Alternatively use the best "last minute" lowest hotel rates scanner in Europe, www.trivago.de. Entering your dates it shows a few available rooms between US$ 113 and 143 per room and night.

You might want to stay a little outside of town and commute in.

Three years ago I spent the last Saturday night of Oktoberfest in Landsberg am Lech, about 55 min by train from the Munich Hauptbahnhof. I stayed in a single room in Augsburger-Hof for €42, which was within the price range listed on their website. They now show a maximum of €43.

The hotel is 0.8km from the Landsberg(Lech) Bahnhof. There is a city bus that runs into town for about €1, but when I saw how short the distance is, I walked to the station the next morning.

When I went to Oktoberfest, I stayed at Hotel Mayer in Germering, just outside Munich. It was nice and just a short walk to the station.
