Our family of 6 adults and one 1-year-old is about to go skiing in www.oberstdorf.de. We will day-trip to www.breitachklamm.de, Bregenz and Lindau at the Lake of Constance as well as Oberstaufen. Most of the time, however, we will be skiing Mt. Nebelhorn and Mt. Fellhorn and the Kleinwalser valley (Austrian terretory but only accessible from Bavaria, no direct connection to the rest of Austria). www.das-hoechste.de... It should be a 3 1/3 hours drive from Frankfurt down to the Southern most town/point of Germany, Oberstdorf (pop. of 9,000)...
Have a great time! I'm so jealous!
Hi Andreas,
Have fun, be safe and let us know how everything went!
Paul
The Oberallgäu was my first "back door" in Germany. It's got to be one of the most beautiful parts of the Alps. But don't tell anyone about it.
For skiing, I would prefer the snow in Colorado. But the Nebelhorn has over 5000' of vertical, more than anywhere in the states! And Oberstdorf, as a town, puts Vail to shame. But I prefer that area in the summer, when I can hike in the Kleinwalsertal.
And in the spring, the nearby village of Bolsterlang has a dandelion festival (I have one in my back yard every year, too).
