We will be staying in Germany and then want to head off to the Netherlands and Brugge in later October and are concerned it may be a little too late for that area -- no leaves on trees and too cool and/or rainy. Our other choice is the vinyards of France (Burgandy). We spent fall in Alsace vinyards three years ago and the vinyards were spectacularly golden. Suggestions and feedback welcomed.
The Netherlands doesn't have many trees, mostly farmland. But October is fantastic time to visit the area: minimal crowds, moderate weather, and cheaper hotel rates. In this part of Europe, it can get rainy any time of the year, so there is no way to avoid it.
I think of October as a prime time to visit either place.
We are going to France in October to photograph. We love Burgundy, the Dordogne, and Provence. I think Burgundy and the Dordogne will be particularly colorful in middle to latter October. We are staying in Montreal ,France in Burgundy and in Beynac in the Dordogne. There are some beautiful villages in each area.
Anne Marie - I am traveling to Alsace this year in October and would love your recommendations of vineyards to visit and how to schedule our three days there. Many thanks!
