Hi everyone. I had booked a rental house in Oberammergau months ago but the owner has developed some health problems and they have had to close down. The owner was kind enough to book us into a B&B with a comparable price, but what we are really looking for is an apartment or vacation rental that has space for six where we can spend a quiet Christmas, cook our own food, etc. Does anyone know of a reliable property or a reliable company that sponsors vacation rentals in Upper Bavaria/Austria? I only have our B&B reservations held until the 30th so any information you could give me here would be soooo appreciated! Thanks!

Kim, We stayed at the Hotel Garni Edlhuber in Mittenwald. They have both rooms and apartments. We had an apartment with large living room, good size bed room, small kitchen and nice new bathroom. We also had a balcony with beautiful views of the mountains. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent -- just outside of town, so it is very quiet, yet within an easy walk of the town. Breakfast was excellent. We loved Mittenwald and thought it was a great base for Bavaria.

You can find accommodations on the Oberammergau website, www.oberammergau.de (you can change it to English). For the week of Dec 20-27, I only found one Ferienwohnung, Almrausch, listed for 6 people at 89/nt. I has four stars, so I would expect it to be good.
