Oberammergau to Memmingen Train Help

Hi, We have found ourselves with an extra day in Bavaria and were wondering about spending it in Oberammergau. We will be in the area on Saturday, June 16 and flying to Spain on Sunday, June 17 at 1 p.m. from Memmingen Airport near Munich. The train schedule as near to that date as I can pull up shows a train leaving OGAU at 6:43 a.m. and arriving MMGN Airport around 11:22. I don't want to push it. Does this seem like enough time? If it were Italy or Spain, I might worry (no offense to those countries), but as it's Germany, do you think we could/should do this? Thanks!

That would be the absolute limit of my comfort level. Deutsche Bahn has a decent on-time record, but delays are a regular feature, particularly in the summer. BTW, almost 5 hours from Oberammergau to Memmingen? It only takes about an hour to drive. Perhaps some of the public transport gurus on this website can find a shorter connection for you?

We are flying Rynair, but we each have one checked bag that we have paid extra for. All of the nearby areas I've found in which to stay (Ulm, Augsburg, Lindau, etc.) have trains to Memmingen on Sunday, and nearly all of them arrive at 11:22. There must be a common transfer spot. Short of staying in Memmingen to make sure we are there on time, I'm not sure what else to do. I thought of spending the day somewhere else more interesting and then taking an evening train to Memmingen (alerting the hotel of our late arrival, of course). I really don't want to miss a connection, have a late train, or do anything to make us miss the plane to Spain. I appreciate any suggestions!

"all of them arrive at 11:22" The 11:22 arrival at the airport in Memmingenberg is not by train. It's a periodic bus from Memmingen, where there is a rail station. On Sundays, the first bus to the airport leaves the station at 11:10; that's why all connections to the airport arrive at 11:22. The next bus is an hour later. You can look at all these connections in detail on the German Rail (Bahn) website. Click the '>' symbol at the left side of the page to see the details. If you stayed in Fuessen, you could leave on the 8:06 train and get to Memmingen at 9:59, but then you'd have over an hour to wait for the 11:10 bus. But there are taxis. The taxis all have phone number and some have websites. If you came in from Fuessen at 10:00 and had a taxi prearranged you could get to the airport earlier than 11:22. Are you already planning to stay in Oberammergau, or was that just a place from which to go to the airport? If you will be coming from Oberammergau, there is a bus to Fuessen leaving the Oberammergau Bahnhof at 5:27 PM on Saturday, arriving at Fuessen Bhf at 6:59 PM. There are earlier buses, but that's the last one on Saturday.

Or, Saturday afternoon, you can take the train or bus (shorter and faster) from Oberammergau to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and then the train (Ausserfernbahn) to Pfronten and spend the night here. Then, Sunday morning, take the 8:33 train from nearby Pfronten-Steinach Bahnhof via Kempten to Memmingen, arriving at 9:59 and take a taxi to the airport.
