This Play in 2010 is presented May-Oct. We would like to secure reservations in the September timeline. It is our understanding that the tickets for private folks go on sale the Spring, 2009. Should we do this? Will we be charged this far in advance on our credit card? We would like to attend the September 10th performance and stay at the Hotel-Pension Helmerhof and what are the public transportation alternatives or private driving alternatives? Are there other recommendations relative to lodging alternatives? Thanks Dorsey

I've been to Oberammergau but it was in late 2007 so i don't have any info on obtaining Passion Play tickets. It's a darling little town. We drove a rented car throughout Bavaria, i don't believe there are any bus lines or anything of that nature out that way. Check out the wood carving school, too.

Oberammergau is served by both bus and train. There is train service hourly from Munich via Murnau. There is also regular bus service to Füssen and to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The Bahn website will shows these on the German Rail query page.
I stayed a Gästehaus Richter, www.gaestehaus-richter.de. Very inexpensive, near the train station. And Frau Richter speaks English.

Hi, I found a web sight where you can get all the info you want. I think it is the direct web sight from the people that have the play. The websight is www.passionsspiele2010.de This is in german but they have a icon to turn it into english. We were thinking about going but we may have to wait till the next one.
