Oberammergau

We have tickets for the passion play in May and plan to drive to town and park our car and take a bus to the theater. We thought we could get back to the car at the break and have our packed dinner at the car instead of trying to find a restaurant to eat at. Does that sound like a good plan or is there plenty of options in the town without a reservation?

OK, Barb .... since no one has yet answered your post, I will take a stab @ it. Fundamentally, Oberammergau is a pretty small town, and your options may be limited. I do not recall too many restaurants there. So if you are not part of a tour group with arrangements already in-place, or you don't have reservations @ one of the hotel restaurants, then finding a place to eat dinner could possibly be an issue during the Passion Play. So if you don't want to fight the crowds, or take a chance, then why not bring something to eat along with you and have a "picnic" @ your car? I think your idea is fine. The scenery is beautiful, and you could make it a special event with some wonderful Bavarian food. It may become a memorable part of your Passion Play experience !
