I am looking for a hotel in Nurnburg for December. Has anyone had any experience with Hotel Lucas which is one of Rick's recommendations? It seems that with the Christmas market, I am already experiencing availability problems so any recommendations are appreciated.

There are still hotels in all price ranges available on hrs.com.
Use Nuremberg, the English spelling, for best results for Nürnberg. There is a bullseye (distance from city center) at the top of one column. Click on that bullseye to sort choices by closeness to the market.
The ratings on hrs are limited to former customers that completed their stay and are usually on target to my experience. You get an email back with your reservation that clearly spells out the terms, which is useful.
We have stayed at the Ibis Nuernberg City just outside the wall and it was handy. Good breakfast but not part of the room price.

Sharon, make sure that you check the recomendations on Trip Advisor. Nurenburg is a fun town, with lots of great restaurants.

My Mom and I stayed there two years ago for the Christmas markets. A very centrally located hotel. Clean safe and a great location. A beer tent next door outside but not an issue. Simple but plentiful breakfast. You can walk to the market and around town from this location. We would stay there again.
