One of the main reasons for our trip to Europe this year is for my husband to drive the Nurburgring. We have researched it pretty well, but if anyone has ever done this or been there for a race I would appreciate your insights into the experience.

I visited the track last Nov. 08 and by chance there was a Goodyear sponsored race starting in an hour which we stayed for in the rain. I am not a formula race fan however and did not research the opportunities for driving the track. It is located in the Eifel region and is quite rural and scenic where the track is located. There was a massive construction project in progress at the time but this did not hamper access. I thought the racing (small Porsche type cars) was pretty amazing in the rain. We were able to access the paddock prior to the race and also the photo tower for practice runs.
