Number of days to stay in Berlin

This post may show up twice, my apologies. We are planning a three week to Germany in July. We are looking at 7 days in Berlin. Looks like there is much to see and do plus day trips. I know Rick recommends 2 days but that seems way too short. Is this too long? Not long enough? Feedback on days spent in Berlin. Thank you.

Just delete the duplicate post. After you sign in, you can change any of your posts that you want. I don't think 7 days is too long to spend in Berlin, as can't imagine only having 2 days. There is quite a lot to see here, from museums to historical sites. Plus, as you said, day trips to places like Potsdam, the Spree Wald or Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. Recommend going on walking tours or bike tours that cover various themes, like the Cold War, 3rd Reich, Berlin Underground, Jewish Berlin, and so on. There are a lot of different companies operating there, so check Trip Advisor to read current reviews and see which ones fit your schedule and interests the best. If you do a general overview tour your first day, you will have a great orientation to the city, plus you can ask the guides for recommendations for restaurants, local events, etc.

Big cities with a lively food/art/cultural scene have enough to entertain anyone for a whole week. Sure it is the case of Berlin, but I'd also put on that list Milano, Wien, Roma, Barcelona, Paris, Madrid, London.

Concerts, nightclubs, art exhibitions, sporting events, walks in the parks, boat rides, lively debates about culture and life, construction sites everywhere, beer, day trips, shopping. Seven days is just a start in this thriving and very engaged city.
Oh, did I mention beer? And engagement? Berlin will pay back in full measure whatever you invest in appreciating its hearty appetite for both the mind and the body.
