I will have a few days in Dusseldorf in early April. Want to see Aachen. Any other recommendations in the city itself or nearby?

I´ve driven past St. Augustin many times, and one of these days I´ll finally stop to visit. It has a large monastery sitting on top of a hill above town. Looks very scenic from the autobahn.

A daytrip to Cologne would be my first destination for a daytrip. Only 25 minutes away by train and all the big sites are right next to the main train station. Do you like art? Joseph Beuys is a very influential native of Duesseldorf (well, he was born nearby and lived in Ddorf most of his life), and the collection for modern art is outstanding. I highly recommend the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen which was completely renovated and recently reopened:
